The Cosmopolitan: a true classic. It is a popular cocktail that has been around since the 1970s. Although there is a female magazine that shares the same name, there’s no reason for the men out there to be ashamed to be caught drinking a Cosmopolitan Cocktail.
This vodka drink is actually one of the more popular ones other there. You’ve probably heard it informally referred to as a Cosmo. It is also featured in many popular shows and movies (namely Sex and the City). It’s a fairly simple cocktail to make, but we’ll help you out to make sure that the process, and the drink, is as smooth as possible.
Cosmopolitan Cocktail Recipe:
- Start with 1 ounce of vodka, and pour it into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
We suggest using cracked ice for this particular cocktail.
- Add ½ ounce of Cointreau to the shaker.
The Cointreau is often referred to as the “heart” of the cocktail, so don’t forget this step.
- Next add ½ ounce of lime juice.
If you can get freshly squeezed lime juice, then by all means use it. If you can’t, it’s not a big deal, so don’t stress about it.
- Finally, add 1 ounce of cranberry juice to the cocktail shaker.
This is what gives the Cosmopolitan Cocktail its unique color.
- Time to shake!
Shake your concoction well and then strain it (or double strain if you’re feeling fancy) into a chilled martini glass.
- The final step is to garnish your chilled cocktail glass with a lime wedge or wheel.
Don’t skimp on the garnish, Cosmo’s are supposed to look fancy!
