The Agent Orange cocktail is a bit of a unique one; it’s simple, new, and somewhat healthy too. This vodka drink is actually fairly new, being first seen only 5 years go. However, it’s simplicity and ingenious ingredients seem to work fairly well together. Hell, in its first year in existence, it won the “Best New Cocktail” award at the 2007 San Mateo County Fair’s cocktail competition.
The real key to this cocktail is the quality of your ingredients. I’ll give away the key component now by saying that getting real, organic carrot juice is the best way to produce a great tasting cocktail. If you have a vegetable juicer (does anyone still have those?) you can opt to making your own carrot for a real authentic vegetable juice. So while this vodka drink only has five years under its belt, we think that it is worthy of being mentioned, even though it’s a fairly simple cocktail.
Agent Orange Cocktail Recipe:
- Start with 1 ounce of vodka, and pour it into a rocks glass filled with ice. The original Agent Orange called for Svedka Vodka but whichever you like as your favorite is fine too.
- Pour in 3 oz of organic carrot juice. Again, simple cocktails like these depend on high quality ingredients. Try to do the best you can.
- Give the cocktail a stir and serve. Garnishing with a tall carrot stalk or maybe a nice herb like rosemary can give that extra visual appeal it may need.

Don’t let the name throw you off; this drink is not poisonous. In fact, you may even get some looks when saying the name out loud. It’s a fairly unique drink, but definitely one that everyone should give a try. Vodka and Carrot Juice may sound a little weird, but then just think of the Bloody Mary. If people can mix alcohol with tomato juice, I don’t see why carrot juice and vodka could be so different.
So, the next time you pass that organic carrot juice in the grocery store, pick it up! Try making an Agent Orange and let me know what you think!
